Description

Short (one line)

A dark fantasy dungeon crawler where you pick a party of 2 heretics from 12 classes. Procedural dungeons, deep builds with persistent progression. Not a roguelike: your progress stays.

Medium (one paragraph)

The Heretic's Seal is a dark fantasy dungeon crawler where you control a party of 2 heretics chosen from 8 base classes plus 4 unlockable elites. Procedurally generated dungeons, 600+ items with sets, a 3-branch skill tree per class, and a six-element system (Fire, Water, Nature, Light, Shadow, Arcane). Equipment, gold and levels persist between runs — it's not a roguelike. Built solo in Godot by a Spanish indie studio.

Long (paragraph form)

The Heretic's Seal is a dark fantasy dungeon crawler about a sealed truth — and the cost of breaking it.

A thousand years ago, six elemental orders sealed a woman who discovered how to merge their powers into one. They called her a heretic. Tonight, someone has broken her seal beneath the royal castle, and the kingdom is paying the price. Your party of two heretics is what stands between Veyrand and whatever the orders feared enough to bury alive.

You pick 2 from 12 classes (8 base + 4 elites unlocked by recovering the lost sanctuaries of Fire, Water, Shadow and Arcane). 66 party combinations. A Warrior+Pyromancer plays nothing like a Bard+Shadow Warlock. Build of party, not build of character.

Procedurally generated dungeons across multiple biomes (crypt, mansion, forest and more). 25 dungeons total. 4 boss fights. 600+ pieces of gear across 10 equipment slots. Six elements that combine into compound damage types (vapor, plasma, void, storm, eclipse, radiance). A 3-branch skill tree per class (Combat / Defense / Utility) with respec on demand. Three endings with consequential epilogues.

Critically: equipment, gold and levels persist between runs. You can replay earlier dungeons for half XP. The game respects your time and your build. It is not a roguelike. It is a dungeon crawler with the depth of an RPG and a story with moral ambiguity drawn from Dragon Age: Origins, Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

Built solo in Godot 4 by OBT Studio in Spain. Demo at Steam Next Fest, 19 October 2026. Full release Q1 2027 at €19.99.

Key features

I · Party of two, 12 heretics

Pick 2 from 8 base + 4 elite classes. 66 combinations. The 4 elite (Pyromancer, Frost King, Shadow Warlock, Sorceress) unlock by recovering the lost elemental sanctuaries.

II · Not a roguelike

Procedural dungeons, but equipment, gold and levels persist between runs. Your progress stays. Replay earlier maps for half XP.

III · Six-element system

Fire, Water, Nature, Light, Shadow, Arcane. Compound types (vapor, plasma, void, storm, eclipse, radiance) when elements meet. The final boss uses all six in rotation.

IV · Story with moral weight

4 acts, 25 dungeons, 4 bosses. The sealed enemy turns out to have been right. Three endings — seal her again, kill her, or free her — with persistent epilogues.

V · RPG depth

10 equipment slots, 600+ items, 3-branch skill tree per class (Combat / Defense / Utility) with on-demand respec, level cap 40, NPCs with story.

VI · Dark fantasy with bite

Ornate gold-framed enemies, atmospheric biomes, serious tone without being grim-for-grim's-sake. Inspired by Dragon Age: Origins, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre.

Quotes

"Pick 2 heretics from 12. Break the seal. Die. Come back. Your progress stays — this is not a roguelike."

— Tagline, The Heretic's Seal

"They sealed her alive. A thousand years. Feeling every second. And we lived in a kingdom built on top of her without anyone knowing she was down there, screaming."

— Aldera, Royal Librarian
